Blueprints of Quality Relationships

It is very important to have a happy, healthy relationship with your loved one.

Relationship 0001

Next to having good health is having good relationships. Feeling energetic and well, free of illnesses is one thing, but knowing how to develop and maintain sound relationships rates pretty high too.

Relationship Defined

Relationship means one's connection with associates, friends and relatives. A connection with others exists everywhere one spends time, especially the work place, church, family and any other society or organization. This definition includes dating, courtship, engagement and even marriage. In essence whenever one comes in contacts with at least one other person, a relationship is established, whether short-range or long-range.

Effective Relationships

A good relationship exists with mutual understanding of two or more persons.

  • Respect is showing consideration for another person. Without it someone

will become unhappy, dissatisfied, or disgusted.

  • Open communication means expressing one's feeling, desires and wishes with

Another or persons. If one person does all the talking and planning, poor communication tends to evolve and that can put a strain on any relationship.

  • Understanding values helps to develop a sound relationship. “Anything regarded as worthwhile to an individual is a value, whether it is a principle, standard or quality.” (The Powerful Web of Kinfolk, Walker, Moffett J., Publish America, Baltimore, 2006). For example, one who values promptness will have difficulty with anyone who is usually late.

“ Understand your own values, whether health, education, family, economics, politics or others.” I further stated.

  • Actions are the responsibility of the person who executed them. Each person must assume accountability for what he/she does. In addition each of us deserves care and encouragement.

Being helpful to another is something all humans need to do.

  • High self-esteem must never be taken lightly. A love for “self” affects how we behave.

That means it affects how we treat others. High self-esteem motivates an individual to deal positively with others. On the other hand, low self-esteem usually brings with it negative behavior. Low self-esteem and somehow insecurity group together. But the thing about low self-esteem is it may be hidden. An example is the school bully.

Connecting with other people is important for all of us. Therefore, everyone needs to understand and practice the basics of relationship 0001. Family, friends and associate at work are important people in our lives. Let them know by treating each with human dignity.
