As usual I went to the gym to workout, not expecting anything exciting to happen in my usual routine. After I finished the treadmill I went on to the rowing machine. The rowing machine is facing the open windows and there was a guy jumping rope about twenty feet in front of me. There was no other option than to watch this guy jumping rope because the rowing machine is facing him. It would be odd and uncomfortable if I turned my head to the right or left of me. The right of the rowing machine was the wall and the left of me are the cardio equipment. Thus, I continued to look forward and watch him jump rope.
This is where the situation gets interesting, while I am watching him jump rope, he occasionally turns to look at me looking at him jump rope. It’s kind of awkward but I am thinking in my head that he thinks that I am “checking him out” when in reality that it is the only direction I can look when I am rowing. Plus, I did not find him attractive at all. And I did not want him to think that I was “checking him out”. It is a lose-lose situation for me because if I continue to look at him, he will think that I am “checking him out” but if I turn my head whenever he looks at me, he will still think that I am “checking him out”. This song and dance of him looking at me and me looking at him continued over a period of ten to fifteen minutes until he stopped and walked into the gym. It just so happens that the door in order to get in is right next to the rowing machine. As he passed me while rowing I got a closer look at him and I actually saw what I liked, so in entire mental ordeal in my head while he was jumping rope of me hoping that he did not think I was “checking him out” was shot because in reality I was “checking him out”.
