Does Being Rich Entitle You to a More Attractive Mate?

We all know that we live in a money-obsessed world. After all, money is basically what makes the world go "round. Without money, there"s not a whole lot that you can accomplish. You need money to put gas in your car, food on your table, and clothes on your back. And, if you are in any way fond of life's luxuries - nice cars, fancy houses, expensive trips - the more money you have the more of those luxuries you will be able to have. But, what about the types of mates that you will attract? Does having a lot of money increase your likelihood of marrying a more attractive mate?

I think it does. Definitely! I'm not being cold-hearted or disrespectful in any way, and I'm not naïve enough to think that money can buy true love. I don't think it can! But I think money can buy just about everything else, and it can at least “rent” a certain level of friendship and fake love. After all, people with a lot of money tend to have a lot of people hanging around them and going out of their way to cater to their every need. Most rich people are pretty popular, and most rich people don't have a shortage of friends, although the legitimacy of those “friendships” are certainly questionable.

But for a guy, let's say Donald Trump, one of the wealthiest guys at least in the United States. This guy has been married what, about three times now, and he's bedded and globe-hopped around with some of the most beautiful women in the world. And his current wife is about twenty-five years his junior, and she's definitely easy on the eyes, as most one-time top models tend to be. So, am I to assume that “The Donald” has had such good luck with women simply because of his charm and good looks? Or, would it be realistic to assume that the size of his bank account and the resulting notoriety that comes with being super rich had something to do with his luck with the ladies?

Of course, the answer is obvious, at least to most sane people. Money affords a person a lot of perks, which include the attention and affection of attractive people. And, obviously, there are many of these attractive people who wouldn't mind marrying a super rich person whether or not they truly love them or not. It's like entering into a mutually satisfying agreement where each side has something substantive to bring to the table: the rich person brings their money and lifestyle, and the attractive person brings their beauty and the winks and stares that are elicited from being married to an extremely attractive person.

But how truly satisfying could that be? A guy like Donald Trump has to know that if he were stripped of his wealth and status he wouldn't be anything extraordinary. He'd look the same, he'd be built the same, everything would be the same except for his wealth. And I highly doubt that extremely beautiful and hot women would be fawning over him and even marrying him. But he is rich, and he is married to a beautiful woman, and he has “been with” countless beautiful women over the years. So, I guess if you were in Trump's shoes, you would learn to take things as they come and just enjoy all the beautiful women that money could buy, regardless of whether or not you'd have those things sans all of your money! Sometimes reality can spoil a perfectly good fantasy!
