Has Texting Made Relationships Impersonal?

My views on texting, and how it will progress. My advice to texters and their relationships.

In my opinion text messaging is the greatest social barrier in today's society. The things I dislike most about texting are, it makes hanging out with my friends less fun, and it ruins relationships, in a way.

To me, there is nothing more obnoxious than when I'm hanging out with one of my friends and I hear that bzzz bzzzz bzzzz sound of their phone vibrating, and then they whip out there phone and practically forget I exist. I mean really am I that unimportant to you? Taking out a phone during a conversation and starting to text is like saying that the conversation is too boring for them. I think that people should at least wait until they're alone to take out there phone and text back. The worst part about it is that when most people are texting, they forget about everything around them.

Another thing that I don't like about texting is that it ruins our relationships, like girlfriend/boyfriend relationships. Many people disagree. They say “oh yeah me and my girlfriend talk all the time.” But in reality ALL THEY DO IS TEXT. I liked it better having my girlfriend call me and me saying “hey babe” but those days are over since people only text these days. Also I think hearing “I love you sugar bear” is a lot more satisfying hearing it over the phone than reading it through a text message. Texting is just one of those things that makes talking to your girlfriend for real more awkward. For example a girl can text and sound one way, but when you actually talk she may be totally different. This makes real conversations a lot more awkward.

Were will it go from here? Will all talking be done in texting form? I am against it, and my advice is that if you love someone, save the texting and dial there stinking number already.

My husband is foreman for a road construction crew and can't always get to his phone. I work in a bank and frequently have customers and am not albe to answer. We send little messages throughout the day to let the other know we are thinking of them. I hate seeing one missed call on my phone, but if its followed by a "love note" via text it is still like receiving the call. I think that if used correctly, love texts during a work day are great at strengthening a relationship.

from break up to make ups to good byes and drama left behind ... i was with him for 6.5 years .. and after he was manipulated into moving back home with his mom .. well lets just say .. it all ended there ... he bought a cell phone ... he thought he could just text me and spend more time with his family which often discriminated against my career choice to be a singer and hooked he up on occassions... and then he meet a texter ... someone who he would slip in the restrooms at dinner time and tell her lies and apoligize for working so much..explaining to her that we fight so freaking much .. then come kiss me after he just got thru expressing to her what he should have express to me ...in a verbal conversation...insted he text me .. that for the last 2.5 years he wa sin love with her insted of me .... and that a bee sitting in the tree ...lol

texting made a lot of alibis and lies...
if u are about to meet someone.. d best thing to do not to meet up that someone is just to give him/her a text message that you've go an emergency... presto!

text messaging somehow is helpful for those who are just comfortable with it.. and thinks it sucks if they want a more personal touch with the one they love and cared for.
