Congratulations on your recent engagement! Now you are wondering how in the world you are going to tell your family, member by member.
First off, the common advice is to tell your parents first but don't listen to that yet. My belief is that you should follow
your heart in every matter. What if you are closer to your roommates then your own parents? Then you will probably end up telling them first,right?
It is, however, important that both of your families be informed closely to each other.
That way neither family feels left out in the cold.
Definitely inform your families in private, not public if you are not sure how they will react! No one needs to be embarrassed at their
favorite restaurant or sports outing, etc...
Traditionally, it is the grooms family who reaches out for the brides family to get to know them. Another idea is to get together
with both families at the same time over a nice meal or cook out and surprise them that way.
