"Ahhhhh Spring! That magical time of year when a young man's fancy blossoms into love!"
Oh my goodness gag me! What a lousy, ridiculous quote! True, spring is a time of re-birth and the celebration of life, but the whole notion of "blossoming" love is just plain preposterous! Why do I make this point? Well, quite simply, the kind of love that is manifested here is animalistic to put it mildly. There's no denying it's a person-kill-person kill world, and while bureaucracy does a very good job at suppressing those urges, that innate survival sense is never destroyed thoroughly, and is present, ever more during the spring. Here's my evidence: The seniors and juniors are stressed with Valentine's Day, prom, and college decisions. I can't say anything about the sophomores or freshmen because I do not interact with them on a daily basis. The only reason "love" is rampant this season is because guys are looking for a quick date on Valentine's Day and prom. (A week after the event, the couple will split.) It sure is too bad that grades are ever more critical now, because the elaborate mind games people play with each other have a tendency to wreak academic havoc. Furthermore, competition between the sexes is quite evident. People choose who to be nice with, and who to bug or ignore. What worthless, meaningless, sophomoric actions! What happened to "love your neighbor as you love yourself" and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"? When did humanity sink so low? A better question would be when did we ever elevate ourselves to a higher consciousness? Probably never. Stress is one thing to be dealt with, but when people actively seek to destroy and pester others for personal gain or just for the heck of it, I feel that behavior is inexcusable.
People can be nice. People can value each other. People can achieve great things. I have seen it.
Unfortunately,
I see much more of us consciously descending into that dreadful miasma of hate, coldness, and torment. Sure we like to say that life's a bitch, but how bout we try to make life a little nicer, a little calmer, a little more reassuring, even if nature likes to arbitrarily kill and maim us.
Am I misanthropic? Maybe. Am I bitter? Yes. Very. I am sick and tired of the psychological torture called high school and I still got 1 year left. So am I blaming the world for my bad experiences? In a way, yes. These are problems that have been presented to me many times, either in school, at work, or on the news. All I can say for myself is that I earnestly try be as warm-hearted and accepting as possible. Sure I have my moods, but I try not to spread a bad mood around the room like a virus, becuase, well, I wouldn't want someone doing that to me.
So go out there and do whatever you please. I am not, by any means, demanding that certain persons change their behavior. I'm simply writing about something I see and why I don't like it one bit.
