What we see ourselves to be is what we create in our lives, anything otherwise creates havoc.
A good actor becomes the part he is playing, during his performance. The reason he/she was able to master acting the part is because he/she imagined it first. As we have become aware through the media, many actors fall short when it comes to their public life. We often hear stories of their drug over-dose and depression. They are human like the rest of us and suffer the same setbacks and addictions. No matter how professional they seem to be, if their star-image is not in accordance with their true self- image it will cause these problems.
If our self-image does not match with our achieved success, we become depressed. There have been incidents of people who won large sums of money, later becoming depressed and sometimes suicidal.
Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz a cosmetic surgeon, is a book with the premise, if one can improve their self-image they can create a more successful fulfilling life. He describes patients feeling a sense of disorientation and depression after successful cosmetic surgery gave them the beauty they came for.
Now looking into the mirror, they lost their sense of self. They could not identify with the new look, and were confused, some seriously depressed.
He felt that if ones self-image was negative or unhealthy that all of his/ her efforts would be in vain and failure almost certain. This disorientation after the surgery, though it was successful, showed how important the sense of self was. He too believed one needed to visualize one's goals and see their self image as positive or they could be stuck in a continuing pattern of self-defeat.
Psychotherapy and Coaching is used for counseling people with these self-image misconceptions. Through this counseling and education there can be positive changes.
Quantum physics has proven we can change our reality. Just by changing the way we think our life will change.
In the world of quantum physics we have seen that we have an influence on what is and changing that to what could be. It has supported the theories of faith moving mountains. It has proven we have a say in our future. Some scientists believe even the past can be changed by us changing the way we think today. In his book Science and the Akashic Field, Ervin Laszlo writes of how we are all connected. Like a hologram we are all an important part to make it whole.
I once had a mentor, Dr Joseph Gilberman, who said the hate groups that want to destroy and entire race are making a horrific mistake. If they were to be successful, said Dr Gilberman, it would be like a person trying to go without one of their toes or feet.
The term “love makes the world go around” may be as close to the truth as we can get. Communication of this is the key.
While in Chaig Mai, Thailand several years ago, I went on a cooking tour. I took some lessons at a school run by Permpoon and Suriyan Nabnian. Sharing our finished masterpieces with other students from all over the world, was how we communicated without language.
The Course In Miracles say loving one another is the only way home.
Other sacred texts like the bible and Cabala agree. If we could look at our differences as exciting new cultural events of learning imagine what we could share. We can start where it all begins, ourselves. We need to build our self-esteem up high to the place it belongs, then work on the rest. Ayn Rand (author of Atlas Shrugged) would agree we need to love ourselves first, then we can genuinely share that feeling with our brothers and sisters.
