Seven Questions to Ask Yourself to Find Out If You Love Someone

This is a simple guide of suggested questions to ask yourself if you are unsure about how you feel about someone.

Love is a definite absolute feeling that can only be answered by one person - you! Love is not relative, conditional, or variable, it is something that is determined by an individual and is something that can not be learned, taught, or bought. Love endures all, triumphs over pain and loss, can jump over any hurdle, and withstands any test. But most of all, love is decided but one and shared with another!

Below is a simple list of questions that one can ask his/herself to determine if he/she loves a certain individual. Most would say that you do not have to question yourself and that if you truly loved someone, you would just know. However, situations from the past can cause someone's judgment and decision making process to be skewed and inaccurate. If someone is dealing with such an issue of past resentments and reliving of past heartache which causes confusion, the following list will prove most helpful:

  1. Are you willing to sacrifice and make changes in your current life/situation for the other person? Would you give up something just to make your relationship more comfortable/happy/fulfilling?
  2. Do you get happy when your partner gets happy? Does a smile on your partner's face or joy expressed by your partner make you feel good?
  3. When your partner is hurt, do you hurt? Does the site of your partner crying make you want to cry? If you inflicted emotional harm on your partner, does it make you feel horrible? Is your partner's pain your pain?
  4. Do you have excellent communication skills with your partner? Do you feel as though even when you run out of things to talk about, that you are still comfortable with being with that person? Furthermore, do you enjoy the company of that person even when you are doing nothing but just sitting there with them?
  5. Can you see yourself spending the rest of your life with your partner?
  6. Does your partner inspire you to become better? Does your partner make you want to improve and be successful in every aspect of your life?
  7. If you have broken up in the past, have you found yourself not wanting your partner to be with someone else?

This list is by no means a "be all"-'end all' to the determination of your love for someone. If you answered yes to most of these questions, it is not suggest that you go out tomorrow to buy a ring (if you're a man), or accept a proposal tonight (if you're a woman). However, this list is a guide and a series of very simple questions you can ask yourself if you are unsure of your feelings towards your partner. Because, after all, the only person that can determine if you love someone else is you!
