A lot has been written on the subject of infidelity and, whilst I do not wish to make light of this practice, it is funny how easily it should be to spot most cheats. Most play-away merchants revel in the unconditional, if misguided, trust of their significant other.
Some obvious warning signs to look out for:
The infidel has a renewed, more vigorous interest in his/her appearance; the diet, the new hairstyle, the new wardrobe, going to the gym etc etc. Not by themselves conclusive proof as we all need an image overhaul from time to time, but enough to start the wheels going round in the more suspicious minds.
“I’m working late” and other such easy outs are only valid cheat lines as long as the injured party does not suspect. A quick call to the office, or the bar, or the friends house will be enough to either set your mind at rest, or try and convict the accused!
Sex! Well we had to get to it sooner or later. This can be affected in both positive and negative ways. A cuckolded friend of mine once told me he knew something was wrong because, and I quote “Suddenly she couldn’t get enough of it!”. So don’t necessarily think you’ve suddenly become Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie overnight. It may just be that your partner is getting inspiration from elsewhere
Less obvious warning signs include:
Cell phone behaviour. If their phone is suddenly treated like their best friend, i.e. they never let it out of their sight, it may be because its their instrument of deception.
It may be on silent ringing, new names might appear in the contact page.
The more sensible cheat will keep a second phone you don’t know about so if you come upon such an item, sirens should start going off.
Increased interest in you. Flowers delivered to your work, your favourite meal waiting for you on your return from work. Over the top compliments. All very nice to receive and also signs of a guilty conscience!
Here’s a stat to put your mind at rest though. Two out of every three marriages will have one or more instances of infidelity.
Finally, relax! I’m sure YOUR partner isn’t at it.
