When we talk about gifts, the first thing that comes to mind is something wrapped with a ribbon above it, something in material context or something with monetary value. But The best gift we can ever give to a loved one or someone dear to us is the freedom to let them just be themselves.
The freedom to let them pursue/do whatever they want (as long as it's not detrimental to their growth or harmful to other people), without them having to justify their behavior and actions. And when things didn't turned out ok, to avoid using the word “I told you so.” Instead, to always be there to catch the fall or pick them up.
To be a good listener and non-judgmental especially if he/she did something which society condemned.
To love them unconditionally with no strings attached which also means genuinely wishing for their happiness and ready to forgive them for their infractions.
You give them these and you'll realize you need not shower them with plenty of material stuffs. Of course once in a while, we would love to have material gifts, but a person who lives amid this kind of positive and loving environment really isn't that hungry with material gifts anymore because ,freedom, support, love and forgiveness are all that matters really.
