Ending an on-line romance can be easy or complicated depending on how far you have taken things on-line!
The easy way is to slow down on the amount of contact on a daily basis just like real time romances when it is time to finish you will know (probably or hopefully before the other does)
Excuses abound in cyberworld,bad connection/broadband server. haven't renewed subscription etc.
Of course things get a bit more complicated if you happen to hook up with a "bunny boiler"
At all times during an on-line romance you should be very careful how much you trust your partner, giving them access to your computer should be avoided at all cost lest the cost of breakdown becomes too expensive.
If all the romance has been via email or I.Ms then it is easier to let down you're partner by the use of language ( I don't mean the hurtful "bog off I'm busy style")
Perhaps the use of a busy message more times than not will get through to them or if you are really close then HONESTY should be used at all times.
Remember though that people can become very emotionally attached to you even though it may only be words on a screen.
If it is the end for you it may not seem the end for them and they may try to hold on and, if they so desire they can make your on-line life hell.
Should you be unfortunate to have a "bunny boiler" then all I can suggest is change your server or at least your screen name.
Remember though that you should try and inform all your mutual friends that it is over or he/she may still find you.
