Apparently he said that he’d give me three fingers. What??? Exactly what I thought!, Maybe I should start at the beginning.
Never admit to a friend who is constantly coupled up that your feeling a bit lonely and could maybe do with a man! Within a few weeks she’s text her boyfriend in the army a picture of me and he’s flashing it round his army friends to see if any of them are interested in his girlfriends’ sad lonely friend! (Typical hey?!?) So unsuspecting little me was ambushed a couple of days ago with, “Oh look at this picture, what do you think of him? Well we’ve been trying to set you up with him for three weeks!” WHAT???
Well I suppose the guys quite good looking, but I asked the usual single girl question, “What makes you think he’ll be interested in me?” Well this brought about the three finger statement. A million vulgar interpretations ran through my head. Thankfully the true interpretation of this statement wasn’t that vulgar. Apparently it means that this guy (on a one handed scale) would cut off three of his fingers to sleep with me. (What just three fingers??? Aren’t I worth a whole hand?)
Was I flattered? In a way I guess.
Until I found out this guys history, he’s 26 his wife ran off with his best friend, he’s got two kids and has no idea how to be around women. In short this guy is even sadder than me!!! In fact one of the reasons for this set up was that he was lonely. I mean I feel for the guy but why is it that friends seem to think that just because two people are lonely they would be perfect together.
Why am I allowing myself to be thrown together with this guy that I don’t even know?
But I got to go right? I mean this blind date could the start of something special, or the start of a long running joke with my friend!
Why is it that I feel so nervous, what if he doesn’t like me?
Why do people always have create this awkward type of situation for their single friends? I mean who knows how to feel or behave about these things? WHY, WHY OH WHY!?!
