Who Says You Can't Buy Love?

Finding love on the internet has become so popular that conventional dating is becoming obsolete.

Internet dating sites: pros and cons of finding true love

There are currently over 200 dating sites on the Internet, and every major city has 2 to 10 matchmaking services. This supply- to- demand proves there are a lot of lonely people out there who are willing to pay to find their one true love.

A few free sites exist on the Internet such as OK Cupid, but for the most part a free trial is offered and then to be matched up a fee is required. The fee is anywhere from $9.95 to $50 a month.

Some sites offer better services than others. To find the ratings on the most popular site Forbes has rated their top 10.

All these dating sites have one thing in common, more women than men sign up. However more men will actually use the site to meet the woman/man of their dreams. Women will have more competition on Internet dating sites.

As in the real world there are a few lunatics who will use the Internet for their own unlawful purposes, such as murder, fraud, or robbery. But don't worry; the percentage is very low for criminals to use dating sites, less than .001 according to PC magazine. You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning. You have to use common sense to protect yourself. Never, ever give out your address or your telephone number. If a dating site wants that information, find another one. Don't communicate this information through e-mails to a perspective date. Agree to go “Dutch” for the first 2 or three dates, and meet in public.

People looking for friends or love on the Internet do so for many different reasons. Careers may be so time-consuming there is no time to form relationships in a conventional way. The number one reason is “tired of the bar scene”, and number two is “ I can't find anyone who is compatible”. That's why dating sites that offer compatibility tests are so popular.

Contrary to what E-Harmony says, the success rate is not that high for finding the right person on dating sites. 20% of Internet users trying to find love online married their match, according to a recent poll conducted by Wedalert . If it's only a platonic companion (someone to do things with) or just dating on a regular basis that you are looking for, then these sites are the best things around.

In conclusion, buying love seems to be popular in today's age. The Web allows easy access to millions of people the average person couldn't possibly meet in a lifetime. The dating sites have fostered a belief that the more people you can hook up with the more success you will have for a match. And when you think about, the odds are certainly in your favor. Have fun but be safe out there.
