"The land of the Free and the home of the brave", or so we would lead ourselves to think. What does the word free really mean? To most dictionaries they list the word free as"Independent, liberated, emancipated, sovereign". The word free or freedom has never been found however to infer that it gives to us a license to offend other people's freedom. No matterhow one chooses to define this word freedom still there is no definition, no description that begins to suggest that being free connotes the ability of anyone treading on the rightsof others. Yet it would seem that we allowed this 'definition' to be, not only introduced into American society, but treated as the norm.
Traveling back in time a little is important. The year1774, the place Philadelphia. The meeting was the Continentalcongress. These men gathered that fateful day to develop andenact a plan to separate the strong tyrannous ties of KingGeorge. When the First Continental Congress came together in1774 they in fact were jeopardizing their lives and their rightsso that we would have the rights we now enjoy. For to go againstKing George, then King of England, was at the least certain deathnot to mention endangering their families. To those foundingfathers, it meant something to be called an American. Moreover,it meant something to be called a Christian. For to be aChristian was to be American and vice versa. The Pilgrims didnot brave the sailing across the sea from England to have thefreedom to be atheist or worse. No! They came across the seato have the freedom of worship to the Lord, not from it! Neverthe less, tragically that has become the trend in this countrythat God has so richly blessed.
Why is it that we are too busy in our daily lives andactivities to stop and ask ourselves where would we be withoutGod? Or maybe it is not a question of being too busy, insteadwe are afraid of the question. How far would this country havegone without God? Do we think for one minute that we are, atthe least, equal with God? May God forgive us if we do. Mayhapit is rather a feeling of being able to play God into our cornerwhen doing so is benecificial to us. We have become too busyto let God in our lives in the name of progress. This isdangerous not just on a personal level but for our country aswell. Distance traveled without God would have been ever soslight. Now before that point is ridiculed, remember how manyyears the children of Israel wandered in the dessert becauseof their insisting on counting God out of the problem, it wasforty years. Forty years the children of Israel wandered thebarren wasteland, because they could not see the Lord God inthe situation. It would be rather interesting to see how ThomasJefferson, George Washington or even Benjamin Franklin wouldreact to this America now.
We have taken prayer out of our schools where our childrenare being sculpted. We have taken prayer out of our publicassemblies as well as out of all public engagements. It is asif we are threatened in some fashion by God's presence. Yet whether the politicians approve or not God is ever withus. Without God being the most prevalent factor in our foundingfather's hearts and minds this country would have gotten nowhere. For all the heroism and determination match up to nothingwithout God.
We must remember the Biblical King of Babylon. King Belshazzar was the king of Babylon after his father Nebuchadnezzar died. King Belshazzar did not have the respect and admiration for God that his father had. Instead he dishonored God and the things of God. One night at a party God's hand appeared and wrote a warning on the wall, God was getting Belshazzar's attention. In fact the Lord had gotten Belshazzar's attention so well that his knees knocked and his face became white with fear. According to the scripture, Daniel ordained by God, told Belshazzar in Daniel 5:22-23 that not only had he ,Belshazzar, not humbled himself before God, but had set himself up against the Lord. A very dangerous action as Belshazzar found out later that night when the Lord took his life. What is God going to have to do to get our attention? It is a fearful thought for God to have to write on our wall. For the simple fact that by the time the writing appeared, time had run out for Belshazzar. It is in the book of Hebrews the 13th chapter that the scripture tells us to obey those with authority over us. We should conclude that we should obey the laws of our government.Yet our very creator is not welcome in our public sector. Still we consider ourselves free, even though we are selling ourselves as well as our children to the devil himself. For if there is no light then there is only darkness. While in this we cry out for freedom, all the time becoming slaves of darkness, the enemy.A real enemy that will steal kill and destroy, as the scripture tells us. This enemy cannot be attacked by a mighty militia. This enemy cannot be conquered by elaborate or flowery words from a non-partizan federal mediator, and yet the very existence of this country is threatened by this by him, this King of the darkness.
The only way This enemy can be thwarted is by prayer toa merciful and loving God. God is the only one who has all powerand glory. As well He alone defeated the enemy in one swiftblow, the cross. There was no major armies gathered at Golgothathat day, at least not in the physical sense. Just a man hangingfrom a wooden cross.
Where is the America that our forefathers knew? Where isthat great dream of freedom and the pursuit of happiness thatso many American's have bled and died for? It is a deceitfullie from the mouths of hell that freedom has a price. Freedomdoes not require the payment of our souls. Some would arguethat in fact this country is still great, that the dreams arestill alive. This too, is a lie from the demonic regions ofhell. For if this were true then this country would not havea patriotic pride deficit. The only real time that patrioticpride is shown is if it entails the prospect of turning a dollar. Is it not time for us to realize that without God in thiscountry, this country will be completely annihilated. Is itnot time to put God back in America and better still to put himfirst? Where is America? The home of the free and the brave, where in God we trust means something. What have we allowedto happen to this once great country that the true living Godgranted us?
