Biblical Sex 1

A look into what the bible says about what sex is and what it is for.

“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war upon the soul;” - 1 Peter 2:11. The Apostle Paul used these exact words to open up his message on sex and lust when he spoke to all of Asia Minor. Unfortunately, his message must have fallen on deaf ears; because over 1900 years later, the world has the same problems and they are a little more out of control.

Today we witness sex on TV, in our movies, in our magazines, on our billboards, and in our newspapers. We have shops that sell pornography and sex toys. We have people as young as 9 years old having “consensual” sex. Schools are trying to teach “safe sex” to our children at a young age. We have people trying to make homosexual lifestyles into a form of legal marriage. This saddens and honestly sickens me to see something as sacred as sex (the way it was intended), misused in such horrendous fashions.

What can we do? Well for starters, let's teach our children “biblical sex,” you know sex the way God intended and instituted, instead of teaching them it is ok to have sex as long as you wear a condom. I know you are sitting there right now thinking “I guess since I'm a Christian, sex can't be fun because I have to follow rules.” Believe it or not, if you follow God's rules, sex can become even greater than it is without them. It is my goal to take you, the reader, through God's Word and teach you what God intended sex to be, how mankind made it perverse and sometimes an abomination before our Lord.

A word of warning…. Reading this article may offend some people due to their chosen style of life. If what I have to say offends you, then you need to check your lifestyle and see if it glorifies God.

So let's start part one of this series called “God's Institution and Intention.”

God's Institution and Intention

What is God's idea of sex? Why did he create sex? Why do most churches teach that all sex is evil and frowned upon in the eyes of the Lord? When is it ok to have sex? To answer these questions, first we must understand what God says through His Word. So let's start at the very beginning with Adam and Eve. You may not know it but God explains pretty clearly what He intended sex to be and what reason He created it in the first two chapters of Genesis!

Gen 1:27 - “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

Gen 2:24-25- “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (25) And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

Gen 1:28 - “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Gen 4:1 - “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.”

These four excerpts from Genesis is God's idea of pure, unadulterated sex, and he gives you the most important reason for having sex. From 1:27, we learn that God created male and female.

In 2:24, we see that because God created man, and then created woman as man's companion, they shall become “one flesh” or married. Notice how it says “he” shall cleave unto his “wife”? It doesn't say man and man or woman and woman. It clearly states that it is not Ava and Eve or Adam and Steve, but Adam (one man) and Eve (one woman) to be joined together till death.

In verses 1:28 and 4:1, we see that the end result of sex was the conception on their child, Cain. So the primary intention of sex is to have children.

If you look at Song of Solomon 1:12-15, and 3:1-5; Solomon gives you the only other reason to have sex. That reason is to show an expression of love between husband and wife.

So what can we take and learn from everything we just witnessed?

  1. God created male and female
  2. God instituted marriage between man and woman
  3. God created sex to be between married couples only
  4. The primary reason for sex is to have children
  5. Sex is also used as an expression of love between married couples

In part 2 of this series we will take a look at how mankind has corrupted and perverted what God intended sex to be in so many ways.

No, it doesn't say Adam and Steve, but it also doesn't say Be A Youth Minister. The Bible is pretty positive about polygamy, though. Israel has four arch-mothers but only one arch-father. What’s the lesson in that?

Actually thats the old testament, the new testament says that polygamy is forbidden.
