Religion today has much value. They value religion has on people is astronomical because people need someone to talk to, they can talk to their higher power whenever then want. Their higher power can help them get through rough times they are having. On top of just a crutch to lean on with the faith the have in there religions and the practices they learn people will be more likely to be holy. They have a greater chance to do the right thing especially when families support your faith.
Families have many different religious practices, they may do certain prays before dinner, go to church on a Saturday night rather than Sunday, attend weekly religious classes, or just helping out at the church. As for my family we have a few religious practices. Once a week we go to mass at Blessed Sacrament at 7:30, we have been doing this since we moved to Erie and met Father Mike. During Christmas my whole family goes to my Grandmothers house for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. On Christmas Eve we all gather together in the basement and just visit and have dinner with seven fishes. The religious part of this day for us is that we all take turns saying a prayer before dinner. Christmas day we gather again for prayer and a meal. These practices I feel have helped me become a mature and spiritual individual. They have helped me become who I am today.
There is a difference in being a strong spiritual individual and being a strong religious follower. Being spiritual means that you are you are just an individual who practices your religion in private. Religion means that you are as a whole. Spirituality is a personal quest to find meaning in God. Organized religions rely on the passages and stories that come from the past. The factor of a higher power comes into play when you compare and contrast spirituality and religion.
Over time peoples spirituality and beliefs may change. One day you can doubt your beliefs and side towards spirituality and the other you can understand them more and become more a more religious person. My spiritual and religious beliefs changed as I became an adult. I realized that God is there and will be. He knows what you will do. Why not and prove him wrong. He thinks you will commit this sin and I try and make the right choice. This drives me to enter the gates of heaven.
Many people today believe that there is a higher power. It may not be God they believe in because of their religion but they do believe in a higher power. I believe in God as a higher power. The Catholic religion teaches me about him and the more and more I learn the stronger my faith gets. I believe all of this because there has to be a place in which we go after our death. I believe that we see God through the positive actions people make in this world. I believe that there is God in every piece of matter. We see God everyday in our lives; we even may not know it. Accepting the fact that God is with you in your life makes people feel better knowing he is there and will always be. By accepting God in my life he helps me make the right choices and be a good person knowing that one day I will see him and spend eternity with him in heaven.
The biggest change in beliefs happens after you die. God will still be there, and you may not be able to communicate with him mental but your soul will. If you have made God happy he will let you into heaven. I feel that your beliefs change drastically if you happen to go to heaven then you strongly believe, more than you ever did. If you happen to go to hell your belief towards go will get stronger because you understand that it was always there and you may have not believed in God's teachings and now you regret you past decisions.
