I finished reading Natural Born Charmer by Susan Elizabeth Philips about a month ago. It was a really fun book. All of the books I've read by Susan Elizabeth Philips have been fun books. She can make you laugh out loud at some of the things in her books. This story was about a woman named Blue who was a traveling artist. She drew portraits for money. Her mother was never around when she was growing up due to the fact that she thought it was her calling to "Save the world" so she grew up in various homes. This left Blue with serious commitment issues.
Blue meets a guy named Dean on the road while hitchhiking. Dean was a football star whose mother was a groupie when she got pregnant with him. She continued the groupie life during his childhood and never married his rock star dad. Neither his groupie mom nor his rock star dad ever took responsibility for him so Dean grew to have a lot of resentment for both of them.
Blue ends up at Dean's ranch where his mother is decorating it for him. He doesn't know she's the one decorating it because he hired her through someone else and only communicated with her by emails. When they arrive at his ranch he finds out it's actually his mother. Dean lies to her saying that Blue is his fiancé and a snowball of lies begin. Dean's rock star dad ends up at the ranch with his daughter, Dean's half sister and Blue ends up staying at Dean's ranch for a while and they all get to know one another and help each other overcome their problems.
This story is sweet, funny and completely different than anything I've read before.
