Is Medicare a Rip Off?

Are our Medicare members being treated faily?

Medicare is a program to health insurance for people who have worked so many years and rest while in retirement. Medicare has different parts that really confuse the elderly. The parts are Part A for hospital insurance and a person is eligible to receive after working 10 years and paying taxes. Alternatively, you can buy it. Then, you have part B you buy when eligible (ESRD, disabled more than 24 months, retired 65 years of age or you can also purchase this part as well). Then there is part C which is called the Medicare advantage meaning you have health insurance (this takes the place of the part A and part B) some with prescriptions coverage. Then there is part D which is called part D. This is the prescription coverage for Medicare. Now, with the basics said who will know what is what and what program is best and would remember what program is best for there needs.

The elderly is the most confused when learning the process for this program. No one really explain what program pays for what, what is covered, or the formularies are always changing for covered prescriptions. Who in the world is suppose to remember my prescriptions are covered this month and/or never notified that the next month that the prescription will not be covered the next month. This thing president Bush signed into law for the elderly to gain help paying for prescription is a disaster. Who is winning here the insurance companies or the members of Medicare? Of course the insurance companies. Some members have saved up for years to relax, travel, and spend time with family. However, guess what all the money is going to pay for health insurance and prescription medication. Many insurance companies have this thing call the “donut hole.” Sound scary well it is because this is a period most of all members will hit this sometime in the year and will have to pay the contracted rate(full price) for their prescription. Some meds is costing 4-5 hundreds of dollars and some only receiving 7-8 hundred dollars a month for income.

Now this money has to go towards medications that will help them survive and keep living to enjoy life, retirement and, grandchildren Money is taken from their social security checks. To pay the premiums for their insurance. Who is this program really for? Many other people who receive help from the government or some that did not save for retirement do not go through this period of no coverage. Everything is free and there is no money or taken from their social security checks. Member only pay 1-5 dollars for prescriptions. No money paid for deductions or premiums, or the coverage gap. Now is this fair for the people who have saved for many years? Now whom is this program for? Everyone should be equal and pay equal for the health insurance.
