Contraception is an unnoticed evil in the world that is hidden under the false pretenses of protection and safety. Whereas on the contrary, it is a chief reason that our society is as demeaning of the human dignity of life as it is today.
“When we pry sex loose from its most natural consequence, we inevitably lose our moral compass. Welcome to the world in which we live.” Because of contraception's commencement, society has been gravely harmed. Three chief areas that are widely affected by its introduction include a decline in the overall moral principles of society, the degradation of the woman, and the gradual collapse of the family and marriage. Most importantly, contraception directly causes the most sacred expression of love to be so undermined that it is disgracefully regarded as just another form of recreation (Smith, Contraception). In addition, contraception strictly violates Natural Law, and, as evident by the dramatic increase of STD's, nature is uncompromising in altering the meaning of sex. Marital relationships between husband and wife are severely damaged by birth control's deceitful promises of sexual freedom. When marriages are demented, the proper upbringing of children is twisted, which in turn destroys the very heart of society. It weaves a snarled web of lies that barters millions of dollars from condom selling etc. for self-interested businesses in exchange for the great meaning of marriage, a woman's fertility in union with her husband's, and the family as the building block of society. There is an alternative that is both effective and that coincides with Natural Law - Natural Family Planning. If only this method was substituted for contraception, the vast negative tribulations caused by birth control would be greatly reduced.
Contraception causes much destruction to society in general. Solely judging from what nature has instituted the sexual act to signify, contraception is obviously fighting against nature, and is losing. It must be realized that to fight against nature is unnatural and will have devastating consequences. Susan C. Weller of the University of Texas Medical Branch claims that almost one in every three condoms fails to guard against the HIV virus (qtd. in Evert 23). When humans rebelliously try to interfere with such a sacred act, nature consistently shows humanity that this is wrong. For example, because “The Pill” has been notorious for causing eventual infertility, couples have found themselves spending hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to have children, only to fail. Dishonest doctors knowingly and immorally continue prescribing contraceptives so they will eventually make a nice profit treating the expected side effects that they foresaw (Harms). STD's prove that Natural Law did not intend for barriers to be placed between the sexual act, for nature shows the world the consequences of its wrong choices because the result of openly available contraception is that now instead of just six different STD's, the world's birth control users have managed to raise that number to fifty different STD's as research from Professional Registered Parliamentarian John F. Noonan claims (qtd. in Galeone). It is so obvious that because birth control attempts to twist what nature has instituted sex to mean, the sad result is sexual diseases that many times are incurable. Robert Michaels found that as contraceptives became gradually acceptable and used, the divorce rate ran analogous to the contraceptive rate of availability. He claims that almost 50% of this increase in divorce is due to contraceptive use (qtd. in Smith, Contraception). Truly, birth control has no worthwhile positive societal effects.
While it steadily eats away at society's moral standards, contraception furthermore teaches its users to place less value on the dignity of the human person. When one is simply used as a means to fulfill a sexual desire and then disposed of, society gradually becomes lukewarm towards the grave and intimate meaning of the human person, as stated by Pope Paul VI (qtd. in Galeone). Former NBA basketball star A.C. Green speaks of the wrongness of contraception and encourages abstinence as “the best decision physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. That is the truth... by saying "kids can"t choose to be abstinent' is to portray our children as little more than animals with uncontrollable urges” (Green). Birth control teaches the next generation to disregard virtue and restraint and to act solely upon impulse, to basically act as an animal which does not possess the gift of discernment. Teenagers and adults are taught that consequence is no longer an obstacle and that pleasure can be obtained without responsibility. It is no wonder that the sexual revolution- that is the use of contraception-has contributed to the negative transformation of society as being coldly indifferent. Birth control is not only widely accepted throughout the entire world, but it is also ensured by the government as a legal right. Therefore, the government is directly ensuring the moral desensitization of society (West 97-98).
Just as Natural Law is breached by contraception, the enormous dignity of a woman is completely trampled by the false promises of birth control. Not only are women at a high risk for contracting dangerous STD's and forms of cancer, but they are allowing themselves to be treated as common objects. “Contraception degrades women especially; it gives men a license to use women by enjoying the pleasures of sex without permanent commitment. Whoever supports contraception for the sake of women's rights destroys with one hand what they are trying to build up with the other” (Evert 22). By allowing herself to be reduced to an animal which is simply forgotten when the sexual experience is through, a woman treats her own God-given fertility and power to create life much too lightly. She deserves to be loved wholly, unconditionally, permanently-fertility included. When a woman uses contraception to impede her fertility so that she and her partner can feel guilt-free, she subconsciously realizes that she is being used, and that she must protect herself from someone that she is supposed to be in love with (Kippley 58). Not only does contraception demean a woman in that it disrespects her power and responsibility to bear children, but it also promotes adultery in that each woman, because of being spayed by contraception as an animal is, is available to every man-married or single. Therefore, if she is seen as usable for a one-night-stand or for a secret affair, and no child would result from this, the chances to give in to the temptation of infidelity and objectification of women merely for pleasure is significantly increased (Smith, Contraception). This does not sound liberating to women; on the contrary, it is disgusting. Additional to being morally offensive to women, birth control is particularly dangerous physically. The Federal Drug Administration discovered that women using Depo-Provera may contribute to much loss of bone density, the damages of which may be altogether incurable if used extensively enough (New). Doctor Kahlenborn conducted a recent study that found in taking oral contraceptives, a woman's risk of contracting pre-menopausal breast cancer increased by close to 50% (Meta-Analysis), and she reports that The International Agency for Cancer Research has named oral contraceptives as a Type 1 carcinogen (qtd. in Kahlenborn). If sex is meant to express love, Type 1 carcinogens should be left out of the equation. In opposition to what staunch feminists call "liberating", The Heritage Foundation supports data revealing that the younger an adolescent girl begins sexual activity, her chances of STD's, pregnancy outside of marriage, marital instability, abortions, depression, poverty, a decrease in adult satisfaction, as well as becoming a single parent are significantly increased (Green). Since birth control promoters support pre-marital sex and encourage hormonal female teenagers to act on impulse if they have contraceptives handy, they are, therefore, enticing a young girl to seek out a path which drastically increases behaviors that hinder her chances for a fulfilling life. This is what birth control supporters call liberating.
We live longer, marry later, need more education to support ourselves and have a larger population now then ever. Using contraceptives are a responsible choice. That is the way life is today. Even 50 years ago, the world was a very different place - marrying and having children younger was the norm and necessary.

Your argument that condoms actually increase STD's makes little sense. I agree with impartial, you are entitled to your Christian point of view, but I don't see how you can justify denouncement of control in a world on the verge of a population crisis. furthermore, the only way for women to be treated like objects during consentual sex is if they allow it to happen. If the do, it probably gets them off, and what's wrong with that?

I read your article with great interest. However, your opinions and views are not supported with credible statistics or other data.
I can assume that you have one view and you wish to broadcast it. You have been given a platform. A balanced educated view would be beneficial for all. Your current view benefits a small minority who have not had the benefit of good education.
