Contraception: Key to Societal Dysfunction

(contd.)

Indeed, contraception treats the very essence of a woman's natural reproductive bodily functions as something to be avoided and even disposed of as if it is without vast meaning and purpose. In opposition to what God intended the sexual union to encompass, in complete irreverence for a woman's proud part in bearing children for the world, in defiance of nature's law itself, in the encouragement of eliminating the fruits of love, in promoting irresponsibility, contraception is undeniably evil. Despite what is popularly accepted in this culture today, contraception is linked to societal dysfunction through the degradation of woman and the breakdown of the basic foundation of society itself-the family. “If a person's love violates the one loved, then it is not love and should not be called love. It is love's counterfeit-lust” (West 101). Today's current society can indeed be defined as lustful. Contraception carries the bulk of the blame for this, for as Pope Paul predicted and proved to be prophetically correct, contraception would result in:

“1) Increased marital infidelity; 2) a general lowering of morality, especially among the young; 3) husbands viewing their wives as mere sex objects; and 4) governments forcing massive birth control programs on their people. Thirty- five years later the moral landscape is strewn with the following stark reality: 1) The divorce rate has more than tripled. 2) the number of sexually transmitted diseases has increased from six to fifty. 3) Pornography grosses more than all the receipts from professional sports and legitimate entertainment combined. 4) Sterilization is forced on unsuspecting women in third world countries. . .” (qtd. in Galeone).

The more individuals can teach themselves to abide by the natural methods and functions that their bodies display instead of consciously eliminating such natural abilities such as fertility, the more free people actually will be to enjoy life. When one learns the skill of working with nature, not against it, one will realize the consequence is true freedom (Kistler). Nature itself seems to echo the call to recognize the real power and value that a woman's fertility possesses, for just as “nature has seasons, so too the cycle of a woman is seasonal and couples are taught to recognize the changes occurring on a cyclic basis and make responsible decisions regarding their combined fertility” (Kistler). It is imperative for individuals to realize the truth of contraception: it is responsible for the rampant objectification of women, the titanic increase in divorce, the gradual lowering of moral standards, and the lack of basic respect for the individual as a whole as predicted by Pope Paul VI (qtd. in Smith, Humanae5). The truth will never be crushed no matter how prevalent contraceptives become, for “no form of contraception can prevent a heart from being broken and a soul from being lost” (Evert 21-22).

We live longer, marry later, need more education to support ourselves and have a larger population now then ever. Using contraceptives are a responsible choice. That is the way life is today. Even 50 years ago, the world was a very different place - marrying and having children younger was the norm and necessary.

Your statistics clearly are being used to support your Christian point of view, which you are entitled to; however, these points remain your opinion.

Your argument that condoms actually increase STD's makes little sense. I agree with impartial, you are entitled to your Christian point of view, but I don't see how you can justify denouncement of control in a world on the verge of a population crisis. furthermore, the only way for women to be treated like objects during consentual sex is if they allow it to happen. If the do, it probably gets them off, and what's wrong with that?

I read your article with great interest. However, your opinions and views are not supported with credible statistics or other data.

I can assume that you have one view and you wish to broadcast it. You have been given a platform. A balanced educated view would be beneficial for all. Your current view benefits a small minority who have not had the benefit of good education.
