How to Plan or Predict the Sex of a Baby

Hints that may help to predict the sex of a baby.

Some People would like to plan for the sex of their child, to know that you will two boys or three girls before you get pregnant. The question remains though, is there any proven method that works? Some women have said you can predict the sex of a baby by the sexual position you use when conceiving, some say the type of foods you eat around your ovulation time etc. But the method I heard lately and over a dozen women have sworn by including some members of my family, is based on the time of conception and how many times you have sexual intercourse that month. This theory of course is yet to be proven. But if you looking to try something new to help predict the sex of your baby, here is how this method works.

  1. Know how long your menstrual cycle is:

This is particularly important for every woman to know. Not only for married women but for single ones who are not planning to have babies. Some menstrual cycles are 28 days, some 21, 30. So knowing your cycle will help you know when you are ovulating.
  2. Calculate your ovulation period :

Your Ovulation days are the 12 or 16 days that come after your safe “ period “How is it calculated ? Let's assume you have your period every 30 days, Day 1 onset of your period, which would last on average 4 days. The 3 days following the end of your period will be your “safe “days. The next 12 to 16 days is your ovulation period. Days of ovulation varies from woman to woman.
  3. Know your most fertile days

Knowing your most fertile days increases the chances of you conceiving. It is usually 3 days within your ovulation period. When the three days occur depends on the woman. Copy this link below to calculate your most fertile days. link
  4. Abstain from sexual intercourse for certain days or use protection:

Now we get to the fun stuff. Before some of us feel bad about this, you should know why this method requires you to stay away from sex. Depending on whether you want a baby girl or boy, having sex on some days will determine that.

For a male child :

According to this method the sperm Y-chromosome which is the determinant factor for a male child swims and dies faster than the X-chromosome which is determinant factor for a female child. So if your Plan is to have a male child, based on the plan you are to abstain from sexual intercourse until the day you are most fertile on your menstrual cycle. Based on the plan 90% of the sperm released that day contains Y-chromosomes, there by increasing the chances of you having a boy.

For the female child:

Since the X-chromosomes are slow swimmers, you will plan to use condom or some other form of contraceptives for the first day of your fertile days during your ovulation period (this time of course is when the y-chromosomes are passing through). Then on the second day you can have sexual intercourse for the probability of having a girl to be increased.

This of course could is an old wife's tale. So far there is no known way to predict the sex of a baby. You can only know for a fact between 20 to 26 weeks of pregnancy through an ultrasound machine. However if you want to try this method, you can go ahead, maybe if more people can attest to it; it might open doors for a scientific testing.
