I am a U.S. citizen under the age of eighteen and have experienced first-hand what it feels like to desire to follow the crowd. Although I have made a conscious decision to keep myself clean until marriage, remaining a virgin is harder than most people admit. My best friends and I made a pact that neither one of us will indulge in the "passions of life" until we are married. Even then, we will only enjoy those sacred moments with our spouses. The essence of my passage is to encourage the youth abroad to think about the future, and not just live for the present.
Many individuals believe that engaging in sexual intercourse before marriage (as a teen) is just another one of those events that occur in life. One would be surprised at the amount of people who do not realize that fornication is against the Bible. (It is a sin.) I thought that I was dirty and that I was the only person experiencing these feelings. Eventually, I began to converse with my parents. Listening had to occur before I comprehended what they told me. I took their advice when I realized that they too had once been my age. They obviously knew more than I can learn in a lifetime. Experience was their best teacher. Thankfully, though, I do not have to create and endure the same mistakes. Sometimes I feel like a piece of meat in a skillet surrounded by forks (boys), that are waiting until I am ready, so that they can "stick" me. My best friends and I made a pact that neither one of us will indulge in the "passions of life" until we are married. Even then, we will only enjoy those sacred moments with our spouses. Currently, neither of us has broken the pact. We are all living proof that the impossible becomes possible when you make up your mind to do the impossible. The essence of my passage is to encourage the youth abroad to think about the future, and not just live for the present. This can be done because I am practicing what I preach as you read.
