Tips from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)
- Over-exfoliating and washing your face with soap will dry out the skin, and increase oil production
- Use topical creams with vitamin A derivatives, benzoyl peroxide and antibiotic to help unblock pores, open blackheads and whiteheads, and eliminate bacteria
- Products with salicylic and glycolic acids help unclog pores, and control skin shedding
- Non-comedogenic makeup does not clog pores
- Remember to moisturize your skin
- Talk to your dermatologist for different methods of treatment. He/she will determine what is best for your age, sex, and the type of acne.
