Teeth Whitening Products

Choosing the best teeth whitening products to use.

With the popularity of teeth whitening products, choosing one that truly suits you could be hard to do. This particularly true because there are a number of teeth whitening products that are sold in the market today. These products include whitening toothpastes, over-the counter gels, trays, whitening agents and teeth whitening strips sold over-the-counter or bought from a dentist.

Teeth Whitening Systems

Whitening toothpastes have mild abrasives use to remove surface teeth discoloration. These toothpastes have gentle polishing or chemical agents to remove stains. Whitening toothpastes remove surface stains but some do contain hydrogen peroxide products that remove stains in the enamel.

Over-the-counter teeth whitening strips are transparent, peroxide-based gels applied to the surface of the teeth. These strips are applied twice a day for 30 minutes each time for a span of 14 days. The results could show in as little as 5 days. These product often cost more or less $10 - $55 good for 14-day treatment.

Tray-based teeth whitening products can also be bought from the dentist or over-the-counter. This requires filling a mouth guard-like tray with gel. The gel contains the whitening ingredient peroxide. The tray needs to be worn for several hours a day for up to 4 weeks or longer.

In-office teeth whitening product is the fastest and safest way to whiten teeth. It is also the most expensive. The dentist apply the whitening gel to the sufrace of the teeth then using a special light or laser, the whitening gel is activated.

At-home teeth whitening products are often more convenient and easy to apply. Teeth whitening products can be bought over-the-counter or obtained through your dentist. The teeth whitening product obtained from a dentist office is usually more expensive but contains stronger concentration of peroxide.

Effects of At-Home Teeth Whitening Product

Teeth whitening products such as strips, tray and others often contain lesser amount of peroxide compared in-office treatments but results are often noticeable within weeks of using. Some think that at-home teeth whitening products are not as strong as in-office treatments because of a lesser concentration of peroxide. This may be true but an at-home teeth whitening product is easy, convenient and cheaper than going to the dentist for treatment.

The results of teeth whitening products differ from person to person. Others could benefit more from others. With the many teeth whitening products available in the market it is always prudent to choose which one fits your teeth needs and will give you the maximum effect.
