Babies in High Heels

Do babies really need to wear high heels?

"What!" I have to admit, was my first reaction when I heard about a website called Heelarious that was selling high heels for babies.

Intrigued, I did a search on the internet and quickly found the website only to discover that they do indeed sell high heels for babies.

I know what you're thinking, what person in their right mind would put a baby in high heels!  It almost seems like some form of child abuse.  But after checking on the website I was relieved to find that they are not the type of high heels that you will find an adult wearing.

So what are they?

They are soft crib booties designed to look like high heels and come in sizes 0-6 months.  The shoes retail for $35.00 and come in six different colors, hot pink, black, leopard print, black patent, zebra print, and hot pink satin.  And are, I've heard selling out like crazy. They are even becoming popular with Hollywood and I've heard that Nicole Richie has a pair for her little girl.  The soft shoes are for looks only and not meant for walking, if any weight is put on the heel it will collapse. And the babies that are wearing them are not of a walking age yet.

The shoes creators say that it's all in fun and shouldn't be taken seriously. But not everyone is thrilled with the idea of putting a baby in high heels. In fact the topic seems to be raising some pretty strong feelings in some people who have likened it to everything from dressing up your pets or a doll, to promoting teenage pregnancy.  I personally think that it's just another fad, that like all the others will simply pass. So what do you think about it?

I know it's not right, but those are super cute booties. I don't even wear high heels.

If I can avoid it, I don't wear heels either.
But you're right they are cute:)

Those are definitely a fad, but I get the same feelings about those Brat dolls. They are way to provocative for children. In fact, they're just down right trashy.

I agree with you on the heel part. I like flip flops. In Florida, it's a staple to have these in like every color and fashion.

i think that's pretty cool for Asian kids,so that when they grow up they're already used to it,that would make them a bit taller,

Now come on who cold have anything bad to say about these cute little slippers. I wish I would have known about them when my daughter was little enough to wear them.
As far as the teen pregnancy thing gose I must say I have only worn high heels a few times in my life but I never got pregnant from it.
This is just to cute ! Great job Karen !

I didn't expect that high heels are made for kids too. I think it is not good for them. The baby is so cute.

People need to have something to waste money on for their babies. It may as well be something as interesting as this.
