iPod Nano: A Preview

I went to the local Apple Store to check out the new line of iPods.

On Sunday i went to my local Apple Store to check out the new line of iPods. I have to say, I'm very impressed. The iPod with the most significant changes was, of course, the nano. It reverted back to the original tall and skinny shape, as opposed to that fugly square nano. The nano is now much thinner at the edges, thanks to the new oblong shape. But one complaint I have of the new shape is the curved screen. The viewing angles aren't that great and it's way too glossy. But besides that the screen is still as sharp as before. There are also several software changes as well.

The nano now includes an accelerometer which was previously seen in the touch and the iPhone. The game Klondike was replaced by a game called Maze, in which you tilt the nano to make the ball move through the maze. Now that the screen is upright, theres is no longer th split screen that was seen in the previous model, instead theres a little strip at the bottom slowly scrolling through the album art. The screen's kinda confusing, because you have to turn it over to view videos, and the click wheel doesnt correspond to the sideways screen. Of course, theres the shake-to-shuffle program. You simply have to shake it and it automatically puts it on shuffle. Theres also a program called Genius which chooses which songs go together.

The 4G iPod nano comes in a plethora of colors, in either 8GB or 16GB.
