Buying a Tankless Hot Water Heater

A Tankless Water Heater is a heater in which the water is heated directly without any need for storage tank. This helps in avoiding standby heat losses.

When the unit is filled with water, the water is heated with electricity(in the case of electric water heaters) and with gas (in the case of gas fired water heater). Since the unit is always filed with water, these tankless water heaters provide continuous supply of hot water.

Though these tankless water heaters are very efficient in their work, you have to look at few points before buying one. Depending on some factors, the efficiency of the water heater changes.

The important factors to check for while buying a tankless water heater are:

Location and Size

While buying a tankless water heater, you have to think about the place where you wish to install it. You must think about the size and the area you can give it. Different types of water heaters are available depending on the flow rates. You can fix a heater for the supply of hot water in a single bathroom, or in two bathrooms, or to the whole apartment. Depending on the changing flow rates, the supply range changes. Flow rates vary from 0.5 to 3.0 . You don't need a 3.0 rate water heater for a single room and at the same time, a 0.5 rate heater can not provide hot water for more than one room. You need to know these things and you should keep these things in mind while buying a tankless water heater.

Fuel Type

There are currently two types of fuels available for water heaters. There are Electric Tankless Water Heaters and Gas-Fired Tankless Water Heaters. You need to select the better one depending on the usage.

In the case of an Electric Tankless Water Heater, you need to check the voltage, circuit breaker and amperage before buying. They affect the efficiency and out put of the energy depending on the type of usage. You should estimate how many hours you are going to use the heater and consult a professional to advise a good water heater for you.

In the case of an Gas-Fired Tankless Water Heater, you have to check whether the gas is natural or propane. Depending on your need, you can go for any type of gas.

Application

You need to keep in mind the usage of hot water in your home or at the place where you are getting it fixed. You should get the best one that suits your needs and your usage. As said earlier you should also keep in mind the number of rooms to which you need water supply from a single water heater.

These are the important things to be kept in mind while buying a tankless water heater.
