A Trip Down Memory Lane

Do you ever take time out to remember back to the Old Days (well, the Eighties and the Nineties)?

  1. No Myspace or Facebook. (How did we communicate?)
  2. Before Cell Phones. (Where are all the outdoor pay phones?)
  3. Before the Internet. (How did we get such a vast amount of knowledge?)
  4. Before iPods and Side Kicks.
  5. Before XBox and Play Station 2.(What were the hand held games then?)
  6. When light up sneakers or ones with rollers on the bottom were all the rage.(Were the good old tennis of yesteryear not as fun?)
  7. When we used VHS tapes and not DVDS.(Where did we put the old tapes?)
  8. When caller ID was so new you just could not imagine checking to see who was calling!(What did we say to the calls we could not check and screen?)
  9. When movies were a mere $3.50 and we recorded things on our VCR's.
  10. When gasoline was $0.95 @ the pumps.(did we worry what it would cost tomorrow?)
  11. When we called the radio stations to hear stuff off our Walkman's. (that seemed all good)
  12. When the Chicago Bulls were the best team around!
  13. When it was fun to just play Hop Scotch in the driveway.(Colored chalk, yea!)
  14. When playing hula hoops was all the rage(Finally keeping it up was such an accomplishment!)
  15. Playing outside until the yard lights went on to signal us to come in.
  16. When raking leaves in a huge pile was for jumping in and not a chore.(Burning them safely @ the bottom of the driveway, smelled great!)
  17. When after homework ,there was still time left for treehouse climbing.
  18. When a few games of tether ball was great fun.
  19. When it was a privilege to sit in the front seat of the car.
  20. When we read R.L. Stine books for fun.
  21. When a "happy meal" meant choosing between Barbie or Hot Wheels.
  22. Kool Aid was the drink of choice.
  23. When watching Saturday morning cartoons snuggled in a Garfield blanket w/your pillow was such fun! How about:
    • Ren and Stimpy
    • Rug Rats
    • Power Rangers
    • Hey Arnold
    • Doug
    • The Original Power Rangers
    • The Secret Life of Alex Mac
    • Double Dare
    • Rocko's Modern Life
    • AAAHH! Real Monsters!
    • Wild & Crazy Kids
    • Clarissa Explains it All
    • Salute Your Shorts
    • Are You Afraid of the Dark?
    • The original cast members of All That
    • Kenan & Kel
    • The Magic School Bus
    • Flash Forward
    • Pete and Pete
    • Legends of the Hidden Temple
    • Hey Dude
    • Dinosaurs
    • Pinky and the Brain
    • Hangin' With Mr. Copper
    • Wishbone
    • Bill-Nye the Science Guy
    • Kablamm!
    • Snick
    • Nick @ Nite
    • Bewitched
    • I Dream of Jeanie
    • The Facts of Life
    • I Love Lucy
    • The Wonder Years
    • Nick Jr.
    • Gulah-Gulah Island
    • Little Bear
    • Under the Umbrella Tree
    • Eureka's Castle
    • The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  24. When Kool-Aid was the drink of choice.
  25. Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school.
  26. Going on class fieldtrips.
  27. When Christmas/Hanukkah was the most exciting time of year.
  28. When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle!
  29. When you begged to go to McDonald's for dinner everyday.
  30. When Valentine's Day meant cards for everyone
  31. When birthdays were a class event.
  32. When a friend moving away was the saddest day of your life.
  33. When a candy bar at the store was the highlight of your day.

Thanks Liane :)
It felt like a fun diversion to do, although it was not reprinted as sent! I titled it "A Walk down Memory Lane" and there was more content. When it showed up all rearranged I was like WHAT?! Now I know what it feels like to have someone mess with original content.

Also kudo's to my son's additional input!!

*glad you enjoyed it

Thankyou IcyCucky,
I'm glad to accomplish what I had hoped for, just a quick
article to make you smile!

Thanks for your comment:)

A pleasure to read, I also smiled while remembering all the past memories. I have a few of my own as many others must, this however got me thinking of happy past events. Thanks for the cheery write!

Thank you for a few minutes of sheer joy! There are just those times when we would like to just forget all the worlds ills.

Devi, Thank You for stopping and I am thrilled to know I cheered up
your day! It was fun to write and I wanted it to be a fun diversion to read. If I accomplished that than I am so pleased.
You are right, it's just a bright spot sometimes to add a little light hearted article of past great memories.

know you enjoyed the article. It was a joy to write and
a real "Walk down Memory Lane", for myself.

I will check for your articles.

You're welcome. :)

Wow, Francie, were we neighbors?? LOL. This is a really fun, nostalgic list. I DO remember when Kool Aid was cool, and Saturday morning cartoons were the high point of the week, and when I had to check Encyclopedia Britannica that was heavier than myself when I wanted info (we still have the set in our bookshelf), and the kid with the joystick Atari (which used a casette tape) was the envy of the neighborhood, and...

*Sigh* I really like this list.

Ohhh, life's simple pleasures, I'll take 'em anytime:)

Thankyou for stopping, I find myself rereading this one whenever
I want to remember "happy thoughts".
