History
Afghanistan officially Islamic Republic of Afghanistan or the Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan is a landlocked country located in the heart of Asia. Generally regarded as part of Central Asia, is sometimes attributed to a regional bloc between South Asia and the Middle East, as a religious entity, ethno-linguistic, geographical and with most of its neighbors. It borders Pakistan to the south and east, west Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to the north and northeast China through the Wakhan corridor.
Economy
Afghanistan is an extremely poor country with a high dependence on agriculture, because most of the population (61%) work in the agricultural sector to cultivate grain, fruit, nuts and cotton. Most of agriculture is carried out on the plains of the north, near the borders with Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. There are also important herds of sheep "Karakul", as well as crafts carpet. It has large reserves of natural gas operated at a low level of U.S. capital by businesses and industries (textiles, food) of incipient development.
