American Bigotry: A Response

(contd.)

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat. [I presume she doesn't care about the bible either, since Matthew Shepard was robbed, pistol whipped, tortured, tied to a fence in a remote, rural area, and left to die - by Christians. Thugs certainly aren't restricted to any one religion.]

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques. [This one really makes me laugh, in so many ways. First, that's almost exactly what the British said about the rebelling colonists in what was to become the United States. Second, it is insulting to men in general and our armed forces in particular, because it implies that “real men” are stupid enough to confront overwhelmingly superior forces, and that our soldiers would be that stupid. In Vietnam, our soldiers commonly too advantage of every means of cover and concealment possible, as did the enemy. Someone has watched “The 300" too many times - but failed to notice that, in the end, they died.]

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. [A bit confused, or ignorant, here. Nirvana is a state of peaceful being, not death, and is associated with Eastern religions; Islamics seek Paradise, essentially the same as Christianity's Heaven and derived from it. And the point of a suicide bomb is not suicide, but harming th enemy, including the enemy's children, just as the god of the bible would do: In Joshua 8, god commanded the deaths of 12,000 men, women, and children of Ai. They were all slain in the ambush that was allegedly planned by god. Murdering children is common in religious conflicts.]

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights. [I don't know that anyone in the media thinks that; however, many would like to see all countries adopt an international version of the First Amendment, which is not going to happen if our own country's citizens don't support it.]

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care. [ First, not all Marines are brave, and it certainly doesn't take bravery to torture a prisoner, Second, I do care because, if for no other reason, torture is notoriously inefficient for obtaining information. Tortured people will often say anything to get the torture o stop - true or false.]

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care. [Yes, we've already gotten the point that she would expect her daughter to be treated the same way, and she figures the way to beat terrorists is by becoming them. As I said, poor thinking.]

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care. [ Repetitive and boring. Chanting is used to whip mobs into a frenzy so their brains won't work properly.]

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care. [ I have exactly the same issue with prisoners, American prisoners in our jails and prisons who have actually been convicted of crimes, not just suspected because of their religion, given bibles and special treatment. I think no one should get special treatment because of their religion. Period.]

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it-I don't care !! [We've already noticed that grammar is of no concern to you.]

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior! If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. [This is the Bush attitude in a nutshell: anyone who disagrees should be deleted. How utterly un-American - at least, American as designed by the Founding Fathers where dissent was considered healthy.]

Any respect I had for your opinions was lost when you mocked a man for having been stricken with Alzheimers. Any respect for your intellect was lost when you questioned the historical existence of Jesus: there are no serious scholars who hold this view.

My mocking of Reagan had nothing to do with his Alzheimers, but with his lying under oath and claiming not to recall what he clearly knew. And I don't know who you consider serious scholars, but I suggest looking beyond theology departments that exist based on continued superstition.
