Artists for Life:a Project of Hope

Calling on my fellow artists to help stop the media's glamorization of self destructive behavior among the artistic community.

Why is it that so many great talents die young? Often the tragic deaths seem to overshadow the life. I find that to be rather sad to say the least, I notice this especially with young musicians.

It's like they think "live fast, die young, and leave a good corpse" in the words of Jim Morrison.

The media glamorizes and makes light of talented people that are self destructive.

While the old cliche "pain makes good art" may be true, I think self indulgence and self destruction mocks real pain.

Real pain is the pain that one doesn't go seeking out.

I think if we as a society would quit glamorizing the self destructive behavior we see in celebrities, and instead made it clear that such behavior is uncalled for and intolerable even for them, maybe our beloved artists, musicians and so forth would last longer and continue to be productive in their chosen artforms.

Despite how many act, self destruction is not glamorous or avant garde or fashionable.

In the words of one of the wisest men to ever live "there is nothing new under the sun"

Quoted from King Solomon, "It is Vanity."

Dear readers, Artists for Life is a book project of mine in the works to help bring to light the fact that premature senseless deaths among the artistic community as a whole needs to cease.

This terrible tragedy has claimed more than it's share of victims.

This is a very complex issue but I agree with you. Dying young is not glamourous but a waste of talent

Jupiter, you are, as usual, right. How can we make our voices heard? God created in everyone a strong sense of self preservation. How does it get short wired?

You're right, Jupiter...the evil one is hard at work...if more people would go back to church and get down on their knees there would'nt be as much of this going on.
