Citizenship in America

This is what it means to me, the daughter of an Air Force veteran, to be a citizen of the United States.

Citizenship is important in America, because people need to help each other. Also, people should not steal anything, because that can cause people to lose a lot of money. If someone finds certain objects lying on the ground, such as a wallet, they should turn it in to the nearest store or building. Once someone found a wallet on the school playground. They turned it into the main office. It turned out that the owner of the wallet was very happy to have it back.

Citizenship means helping others. Simple things, like baking something for someone else might make a difference. Even little, simple things can make a large or small difference in another person's life.

Citizenship can mean different things for adults in a democratic country, such as the right to vote and the right to hold public office. Some other rights are free speech and worshiping as they choose (having different religions). Also, Americans have the right to own property, live where they wish, and have fair trials.

Citizenship isn't just about rights and helping each other. There are also important responsibilities in citizenship. Americans must obey the law. They should not steal, kill, or put anyone else's life in danger.

Some responsibilities are knowing what is going on in the government. Americans should also participate in community events, like a carnival or a play. Participating in community events is important, because it shows that people care about the community and the people in it. Participating in community events can be very fun for everyone, especially for the people who performed or thought of the event. It could be exciting for the people who set up the event, because they will know that their idea for the event was worth the time that it took.

Helping each other, rights, laws, and responsibilities are very important in citizenship. They are so important because without them there would be lots of violence and crime. Also, people would have no respect for anyone or anything. These are just a few of the important details of citizenship in America.
