We as a community are being defined by the actions of our youth. There is no allowance for correcting unacceptable behavior without the fear of retaliation or lawsuits. The youth within our communities run rampant through our streets without any regard for their horrible behavior, vulgar language, and lack of respect for others and or property.
It both saddens and sickens me to think that these children are our future leaders.
Behavioral problems will never cease to exist, but accountability for behaviors must be enforced. The enforcement and correction of unacceptable behavior must begin with parents at an early age. Which leads me to this question, when a child has a child who does the teaching? Children at thirteen and fourteen years of age have not fully developed their own social skills or fully understand the ramifications of their behavior beyond themselves. A new generation of socially under developed minds emerges; thus creating the society in which we live today. This new generation lives in a chaotic nightmare of confusion with no plausible way to support themselves and their children.
This in turn leads to an over abundance of poverty stricken families dependent on the state for financial and emotional support. Many of these families are of the single parent design, which lends itself to an undesirable environment for the children, who may turn to gang banging at a very young age to feel some sort of family connection. This creates a group of street-smart children that never had a chance to recognize their full potential. They have been led by poor example by peers of the same age without the knowledge of what society deems as acceptable behavior.
As part of the collective group in our communities what do we need to do in order to break this cycle of despair? Children are a product of their environment and mimic the behaviors of their surrounding leaders; therefore, it is in our best interest to address our youth issues and make some changes.
