I don't believe that women, anywhere in the world are treated equally to men. It's one of the reasons why I'm feminist.
The media gives a bad light to feminists, even turning other women have against another. What woman or man wouldn't want equal rights? The media has twisted the perception by making these women look like crazy bra burners and labeling them as "feminazis". Only a small group acts radically and wants nothing to do with men. Of course they are going to attract the news cameras.
Even the law isn't fair. In a recent case I read in an article about a rapist only got two years for raping a ten year old girl because "of the way she dressed". So she was basically asking for it and that was a good enough reason for giving him two years.
I do know that we've come a long way since the Alice Paul era where we were trying hard just to get basic equal rights which we now have but we are still no where near equal to our male counter-parts.
I believe that responsibility in a marriage should be equal for both sexes but it's not. Someone is always on top and it's usually the man. Yes more women are entering the workforce than ever before in a growing rate but we are still expected to take care of the home like it's a full time job. Whose fault is it if the house is dirty?
Let's go back to the media again. How many commercials do you see when men are using some sort of cleaning product or cooking tool? Plus those commercials are very fallible, I have never seen in my life women look so happy while they are cleaning scum from the back of the toilet.
Women have to work twice as hard as men because there is no wife and a well prepared dinner waiting for her at home. Women are expected to do everything around the house and still have a job at the same time.
The thing that isn't fair is that men earn more than women for the same job and the same exact skill level. For what? One of the reasons is maternity discrimination. They think that women are going to get married, have kids and then give up going to work to stay at home.
Does society favor men more than women? I'm only going to say this once so I hope it sticks. Hell yeah!
