Despite the fact that women have never been in popular baseball teams, despite the fact that we have barely seen women presidents around the globe, despite numerous polygamies and several female infanticides, despite the low social status of women, despite the fact that just few years ago women in some countries had no right to vote, despite of the fact that men have better and higher-paying jobs than women and despite the fact that there still exist places unsafe for women, do we still doubt if society favors men?
I have a better answer for that, not just the society but nature favors men.
Men are emotionally and physically stronger than women, don't have to go through monthly hassles of menstruation and pain, don't have to worry about the 9 months of bearing a child and the agony of child birth. Men don't always have to look perfect or stay in good shape, and aren't judged physically like women are. They still are honored to show their egos and get away with it saying they are men. Do we still doubt if society favors men?
I come from a culture where women were supposed to be burnt alive with their husbands dead body, from a culture where a female infant would be buried alive because the family didn't wanted the hassle of paying dowry for her wedding, from a society where still women cover themselves head to toe, where their husbands are allowed to marry more than one time, where if their husbands were dead they have to shave their heads, wear white colors and live in solitude, where women education is still not important or necessary and where grandparents and parents still get disappointed if a baby girl is born and we still wondered if society favors men?
Well, that was one culture, even in modern cultures there is still no hope for women. one thing that proves that women are still below men is that we have so many women activists and societies, do we ever see any men's liberation societies? Another thing that disappoints me is that we women are trying to rise up and spread feminism but the society still favors men, as there are no men organizations that are feminist and that support women, and we still question if society favors men? Of course it does!
