There are many views concerning the Fiji Government, all of them appropriate in their own ways, and inappropriate in other ways. This is my view. I am a 25 year old unemployed man from the main island of Viti Levu. I live in the outskirts of the capital Suva.
Whenever I hear the words “Fiji Government”, the image of Frank Bainimarama appears in my head. That's all I think about nothing else, unlike the major public I don't really know what is going on I haven't really paid much attention to the whole thing, the news, the papers and television and the whole discussion during a grog session where the informed gossip about what is happening. I wonder, what is happening? While they are busy saying this and saying that I on the other hand feel that we the public are affected lesser than the those being investigated because those who have taken over have dealt with the situation to an extent that it reaches the public to a minimal extent that the average citizen is able to voice his/ her opinions.
Though Fiji may be going through a rough period in its short history, all seem to be going on just fine. The changes made have been in the top of the food chain and well controlled, it does not come into contact with the public but through the media who have done a lot to keep the Fijian public informed and reassured.
From a Fijian living in Fiji to someone living abroad, I'd say Fiji is safe to travel the people have been living peacefully since the military takeover we have had some major changes and we are going on with our normal routines as if it never happened if you want to have a good time, visit.
Fijian to Fijian I'd say, the takeover was done for the people and not for the military to gain recognition and have there way with the government, no, it is now evident that things are out in the open and the public can draw their own opinion from it, again the media should be thanked for their loyal contribution in keeping the public informed.
The Interim Government and its respected members are doing their jobs as they are supposed to, business is going on as usual, education is running smoothly, we just had a number of sevens tournaments and a few international soccer matches that the public attended in large numbers. Everything is running smoothly and everyone is going about doing their own thing and living their normal lives. In my opinion we are doing fine.
