Giving Immigrants a Chance

Immigration has always been important for the US. In a recent interview, Bloomberg the mayor of New York reminded Americans that the country was founded on the influx of people looking for a better life.

People need to realize that if the country continues to pout regarding the influx of unwanted workers there could be a backlash that would be counterproductive for their national economy.

He stressed that it is immigrants who usually apply themselves harder to their job and are therefore more productive because they do not want to fall on the bad side of the law. They usually want to change their lifestyle because they had hardships in their country of origin. He then stated that this was where America had made some serious mistakes in the past especially when it went protectionist. Since the US has beefed up their security towards the influx of foreign labour, many foreigners are being discouraged from entering the country. Educated foreigners are discouraged to remain, so the country is experiencing a brain drain.

Reference was made to the increased vigilance over the entry of illegal Mexicans that could help turn around the American economy if those people were integrated into the system and given the right to work. Arnold Schwarzenegger also vouched for the need to integrate illegal workers that would do the tasks that many Americans would no longer do. He himself is a great example of how an immigrant boy has been able to make it from rags to riches and has said that would not have been possible if the country was not the US.
