When friend comes to you for help and counseling, what do you do? Will you look out to reason with him or will you just listen as he pours out his emotion and frustration.
A lot of time it is him that needed to be touched rather than the issues at hand. Many cases of counseling involved relating with others, if one is touched, chances are they will straighten out the issues at hand and the case is solved!
A listening ear and a compassionate heart will go a long way to help people. Sometimes things won't change for the better immediately and people need to be counseled more than one time, they need to be heard, valued affirmed. They just need you, not solution.
For example, an old man has his car broken down. He called for help, yet when his car is fixed, he is not helped because he lives alone and needed help all the time. Will we be the good Samaritan that will go the second miles?
O Lord, help us to be a people person!
Blessings.
Sincerely,
-Liane Schmidt.
