A priest once told me that, “a moral compass can only point to the right direction. But, it cannot make you go there.”
This current culture we are enjoying now preaches that one should not be ashame to do anything anymore- either right or wrong, as long as it feels good, and as long as it suits you- “do whatever you want”.
Unfortunately, the kind of culture, government, and media we have right now are built in a crooked belief that is no such thing as guilt and remorse. Everyday, I see dead people. I watch lives being wasted because of stupid wars and conflicts and selfishness. I hear cases of immorality and practices of injustices.
There is seemingly no conscience among the people and our leaders anymore. Even church leaders are accused of corruption and abuses. I believe that one value of having a formed conscience and moral values is that; it makes us think twice before doing something bad.
Without conscience, I believe that there is nothing to stop someone from committing a bad act towards other people. One can kill someone without even feeling bad about it.
