Rupert Murdoch is an Australian global media executive and the controlling shareholder, chairman and managing director of News Corporation, based in New York City in the United States.
Beginning with newspapers, magazines and television stations in his native Australia, Murdoch expanded into British and American media, and in recent years has become a powerful force in satellite television, the film industry, the Internet, and other forms of media.
Rupert Murdock owns many of the British newspapers, he owns newspapers such as; The Times, Times Literary Supplement, The Sunday Times, The Sun, News of the World, Times Education. Owning this many newspapers in one country can cause a big problems. These problems can be caused by what views and influence these newspapers have. When all the newspapers are owned by one company they may all have the same opinion and won't contradict each other.
This can be shown by the way Rupert Murdoch's newspaper have influenced the British public in the past. In Britain, he formed a close alliance with Margaret Thatcher, and The Sun was widely credited with helping John Major win an unexpected election victory in the 1992 general election. This is showing how the newspaper industry can affect the British nation.
A tabloid is a newspaper industry term which refers to a smaller newspaper. These newspapers often have stories about crime, gossip columns, most of the stories centered on the personal life of celebrities and sports stars. Other typed of newspapers often supply information about political events, business, culture. They also supply much more information but compared to tabloid newspapers they supply very different information.
The Sun newspaper is one of the biggest tabloid newspapers in Briton at the moment. The sun is projected to the younger adult audiences. It contains news about sports and celebrities right through. The front page of the sun newspaper has the normal title the sun big and bold for all to see. It also has the price of the paper next to it so it is easy to see.
Two things pop out at you here. The big colorful picture with Robbie Williams with the caption Robbie: There's no arm done. The picture also shows him tensing he arm. Again this show in the picture beside him shows the caption Snow in love. This also showing a picture of the prince William and his girlfriend Kate are kissing. The top half of this front cover I see a very eye-catching as a great deal of colors is used. The bottom half of the front page is in black in a white with one color picture.
The black and white is used to make the main head line stand out. The main headline stating I WANT 10K A DAY. This headline about the scandalous story of how Heather Mills wants £10k a day "just to get by". They front page is also giving you just enough information about each of the story's, this will make the reader want to carry on though the newspaper just to find out the full details about the story.
Inside the paper you find the same sort of format as the front page, lots of color, and big headlines. Inside you can also find a lot of advertisements. Though the first few pages you can find the continued story from the front page. You can find bigger and more revealing pictures from some of the stories especially the one about Prince William and his girlfriend.
Through the middle of the newspaper you can find more amusing stories about celebrity gossip that was not fit for the front page. Toward the end of the paper you can find the information on all the sports. This is mainly taken up by football as it is the main sport in Briton and this is a British newspaper.
The Sun has done a very good job of pleasing the British public in being very smart in what they put in the paper. They seem to carry one story through 2 or 3 days just so you buy each copy. This keep the audience interested and this helps make them buy this tabloid newspaper everyday.
