What is Terrorism?

Worldwide terrorism interferes with many people's feeling of mental well-being, as it makes them fearful and apprehensive about traveling and trusting strangers.

Terrorism was defined as: “The unlawful use or threat of violence against persons or property to further political or social objectives. It is usually intended to intimidate or coerce a government, individuals or group to modify their behavior or politics”.

Terrorists are usually young men who are fanatical about their cause to the extent that they have no concern for their victims or for their own lives. Boys as young as 14 or 15 have been used for dangerous missions. Some terrorist groups are self-supporting through activities such as bank robbery or selling drugs, but most are supported by governments who find terrorism and hostage taking effective and inexpensive in comparison with the costs of conventional military force.
