Even though we may choose to say that looks are not the only criterion when it comes to choosing person we wish to spend the rest of our life with. The general perception is that looks are only for a fraction of attraction but when it actually comes to serious commitment or something as marriage, the first thing for a man or woman is looks. Simple questions like: "How the guy/gal will be?" "Will he be handsome or will she be beautiful?" These questions certainly arise to any persons mind while going to meet someone for the first time and they do matter to some extent.
Looks definitely form the first impression about a person. But then there are others things that also constitute the complete judgment about any person. One should understand that apart from reasonable looks, one should go for one who has good job, compassion, confidence, right attitude to life etc. Every man has a different combination of attributes and each woman looks for a different and unique package. There is a saying "when it comes to choosing your better half, don't judge the book by its cover." Marriages can't be built on the foundation of physical attraction only, something more is required to build this relationship and give it a solid foundation.
In today's world, women prefer men with a pleasing personality, good sense of humor, a genuine heart, articulate way of talking, someone who can be just himself and love more. Some way men also go for women who are lovable, understanding, pampering, who can take care of needs etc.
Looks are needed but far more than that a person has to be presentable and should be able to carry themselves.
