What exactly does the term being poor actually mean again these days? Is it being starved like the little kids in Africa, large swollen stomachs and sticks for arms and legs? Begging on the sidewalk for whatever pennies fall from the hands of the rich? Or is being poor knowing exactly how much everything costs and having your shopping list looked over again just in case when you came to the till to realize you don't have enough money?
Everybody wants a piece of the good life. Whether it means you work your arse off from dawn till dusk or even gambling you savings hoping to get lucky. It doesn't take long for people to realize that money can buy some degree of happiness in the sense of a nice car, a beautiful home or even that lovely pair of shoes you've being eyeing up for months. And before I forget ... that thought over shopping list. Unless you live like the starving kids in Africa or your begging for you dinner on the side of the road you're not poor, maybe financially challenged but not poor!
You might get angry at your kids for asking for all the crap they see on TV, but even though you might not be able to afford what your family wants at least the majority of us can give our families what they need. Do you know what it means to not be able to afford everything you want? It means you have to give back to life; you have something to look up to, something to achieve. Being rich means you are always looking down. For some being rich means that rather than earn achievements, you try to buy them. Not having everything gives you a reason to get up and make happiness happen.
Just one last thing to seal the deal! If you can afford a computer to read this, they you are definitely not poor as I understand the term!
