Nobody has respect anymore, nobody wants to acknowledge what others have been through in life. From not sitting on the senior bench to appreciating your mother. Every step needs to be taken to show that you care. Which brings us to today's quote.
"Men are respectable only as they respect"-Ralph Waldo
As a kid in a high school I get to hear a lot of bullshit whining from my peers about their parents. I know a kid who is mad at his dead grandfather because this kid never received any "good" gifts for Christmas but his sister did. This same person gets mad at his dad when his dad tells him to turn on his truck so it can warm up. All this kid does is sit around, eat, play video-games and eat.
I know it's hard to imagine what it's like to be another person, let alone respect them for something they SAID they did. But imagine their position. I've been in this horrible place of a high school for over three years and the only thing I've earned is a special bench to sit on. I never sat there as an underclassmen but now a bunch of little sophomores think they can sit there and ignore the big senior bench sign on the front of it. A bench isn't much and it may not matter a whole lot but it all comes down to respect. If sophomores can't respect seniors now how can they expect to be respected as seniors later?
If you don't respect your parents now how can you expect to be respected as a parent later? That's a huge problem with parents today, no discipline. Kids need to be spanked with a belt when they are young and talked to with respect when they grow older. That's right, respect goes both ways from child to parent and parent to child. If a parent doesn't respect their child then their child will never respect them.
The problem is people just can't seem to grasp the concept of respect. People always underestimate those who have gone before them. We look at the government and big corporations and we all have amazing ideas. We say, "It's obvious their problem is this and all they have to do is that." The answer is always simple and obvious to us. But did you ever think for a second that your simple little un-thought out idea was already considered by the experts?
Big and small organizations alike have people that will sit around for days on end considering every possibility and every consequence for the company. The next time you're arrogant enough to criticize a companies or governments decisions stop and think about the consequences. If you can't think of any keep your mouth shut because you have a one sided mind. If you can think of consequences, congratulations, you have the right to speak your mind and to show those one sided minded people what's up.
Just don't get too settled in with your genius, remember what your position is. You probably don't work for the people you're criticizing. And remember you don't know the full story. Even if you did work for them, you still wouldn't know the full story.
Look, respect is easy to give out and easy to earn. It doesn't make any sense that most people just can't figure it out. Just keep their position in mind, think about a persons age and rank before you criticize. And consider a companies or governments size and product before calling them stupid and ignorant.
Just have a little respect and the respect will be returned to you. Respect is no different than karma.
And that, as I always say, is todays' quote.
