Say No If You Mean No

Do not mess the supplier around.

There's a saying that goes something like this "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice." Some people take this saying very literally, too literally perhaps. Or perhaps they just think it can be faked.

See, in business we come across many tire-kickers. Those are the ones that are permanently shopping for a better-deal, but they never open the chequebook. They simply go around from one person to another, looking, looking and looking some more. No deal is ever good enough. They are the same people that will "buy" whatever the telesales person is selling and when followed up, pretend the signal is gone, or that they are dead or something equally crazy. Some would go so far as to order a service and then pull out when it's time to pay up.

During a recent wealth-creation course, the facilitator explained the concept of the importance of sticking to your word. Don't make a promise if you can't deliver. No, your word is not only a promise when you say "I promise", but also when you say "I'll try to do that" - you actually have to try. When you say you are going to do something and you don't, your mind eventually can't tell the difference between truth and lies. This obviously is not a healthy place.

If you don't have the money, say so. If you don't want the service, say so. You don't have to go around badmouthing the business just because you don't have money!

Live and let live. Perhaps if you refer someone to the business who can afford the service or product, you will do a good turn and those come back ten-fold to you...
