Speech

A speech on why we shouldn't wear a school uniform.

Good afternoon ladies and gentleman. I am speaking to inform you that we should have no school uniform.

I believe that students should have the right to choose what they wear to school. I have a dream that one day this will be a reality. There are some very good reasons why we should have non-school uniform which I will talk about in the remainder of this speech. Reasons include, ties get in the way in some subjects, the uniform is expensive, and it's too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer.

Firstly the uniform we wear is very inconvenient when using machines in tech, preparing food in food tech and doing experiments in Science. The tie we wear is long and may cause dangerous accidents which could hurt the wearer and those around them. If for instance the tie got caught in a Bunsen burner it would go up in flames possibly burning the wearer. So wearing ties is not a good idea and we should choose what we wear.

Secondly the uniform consists of many different pieces of clothing which cost a lot. Some people can't afford the uniform and so wearing normal clothing will prevent this problem. The cost of the items might provoke in the stealing of money to afford the uniform. Which stealing itself is a crime? On addition to the uniform there is the price of the PE clothes. Which only increase the total amount of money spent on clothing for school? So that's why I believe that we should choose to wear what we wish.

Another reason is the temperature in which we endure when wearing the uniform. In the winter the outside temperature is cold and the warmth that the uniform provides us is not enough. Causing students to catch colds which in turn can enable them to miss school. If we could choose what we wear then we could wear jumpers and coats to keep us warmer. As well as being too cold we can also be too hot in the summer as we are forced against are free will to continually where are blazer whenever we are outside and to and from school. If we could choose what we wore we could not wear a blazer.

So now I have told you some very important points I hope you will think and make your decision. I have a dream where we can wear what we want and avoid some devastating consequences. I hope you understand now that there is no point of wearing uniform.
