Americans enjoy more freedom than anyone else in the world.
- With that freedom comes opportunity
- And with that opportunity comes responsibility
- And with that responsibility comes accountability
- And with that accountability come consequences, both good and bad.
- The consequences of our actions must be accepted.
- The acceptance must be applied in our daily lives.
- And with that application comes growth
- And with that growth comes accountability
- And with that accountability comes responsibility
- And with that responsibility comes opportunity
- And with that opportunity comes freedom
Freedom was not won without personal cost. It will not be maintained without personal cost. It will be preserved by monitoring our own actions, taking responsibility for our own futures, being accountable for our own actions (and the actions of those for whom we are responsible), accepting the consequences of our own mistakes, shortcomings and misunderstandings, and applying lessons learned from those errors. At that point, and only at that point-- will we become the best individual/ family/ race/ creed/ nation that we are capable of becoming.
How many other of our nation's tragedies and crises could have been averted if people realized that they themselves hold the key? We will never know if our “leaders” continue to discourage our own personal right to responsibility, opportunity, accountability, consequences, acceptance, application, growth, and ultimate freedom.
