Everyone begins to wonder why and when things started to get so bad here in the United States. As few as fifty years ago such horrors as school shootings and heightened crime activity were but a fantasy. Today sadly said things are all too common but can it really be possible to pin it all on one thing to have changed in our culture? Short answer no but looking at it objectively it's easy to see that it has such a huge affect on us all.
What's been taking almost entirely out of our society in the last fifty years or so that could account for this? Corporal punishment. Something as seemingly simple as all that. Many people will cry out against it as being cruel to children but no one is advocating beating children. Looking back on it that is the one crucial thing that has changed that can explain why children lack such respect and discipline today.
Children lack such authority figures today that it's inevitable that conditions would worsen for an environment conducive to peace. A number of different things can be attributed to this but no more so than a call for the destruction of traditional values by those that deem them an antiquated notion. Blaming the parents though isn't entirely fair.
It's a modern society that has left no room for punishment or discipline. A slave to routine and technology has made it very difficult to slow down and take things at a slower pace as was in the past. It's a heavy cost for us and a terrible price to pay when it doesn't have to be so. Take a step back, realize beauty exists outside of your cell phone or laptop. Comfort in technology and reliance in such devices lead to laziness and lax readiness which leads to a crop of other problems to be discussed.
