I am fully aware that feminism has ruined courteous behavior towards a woman for many of us, but gentleman I guarantee you that there are still a lot of us woman out there that would highly appreciate your gentlemanly behavior. Does this however also excuse the deplorable way we treat our elderly and infirm? Do Mothers with their Babies suddenly no longer afford the little extra care they once used to?
Let us take a look at our Work Environment. Once upon a time Leaders were treated with respect and not called by their first Names. Costumers were recognized as the life blood of a business and were treated accordingly. The Words “Sir” and “Mam” were respectful addresses of strangers that were highly appreciated and more so demanded. These days, you will get a dirty look when you dare ask an employee at your local Department Store where an Item may be located. Bosses are no longer looked upon with respect, but a necessary evil.
However, in some cases, they too have brought that on them-selves. When an Employee can not address a work related problem without being carelessly brushed aside for personal phone conversations, are called stupid to their face or to a co-worker by those that should lead by example and other such unprofessional behavior, it is hard to remain respectful. I would not be surprised that work places like that eventually either lose all their good help or take an extreme tumble for the worst.
What about our Schools? There was a time when Students had a healthy fear and respect for their educators. Now, thanks to laws that prevent teachers from successfully disciplining their unruly Students and the Parents lack of interest, Teachers are nothing more then a talking Statue in their Class Room. Students threaten Teachers, make it impossible to teach and in some cases even cause bodily harm to them. Then our society wonders why our Children get dumber every Year and more Children graduate without even being able to read past 5th Grade Level.
What is the result from the diminishing of Manners, Appreciation and Courtesy?
Truthfully a corruption of our society. We are no longer held accountable for our actions and when a big deal is being made in the News about what so and so said about so and so, it is suddenly taken out of proportion. Our Perception is now so warped that we don't even know what we should get upset about. We worry about hurting the feelings of those that should be all rights have their feelings hurt and don't care about every day interactions with others. Only that which seems to make the international headlines seems to affect us, in the meantime we are rude, crude and obnoxious. It is no wonder that People have become empty inside. Don't believe me? Look around you sometimes.
We judge others words, behaviors and attitudes. We worry about others religions or the way they dress. We are afraid to take those that should be put in their place and in the meantime we treat those around us with less courtesy then we give our enemies.
