The Newspaper

Think back to the days before the internet, T.V., and even the radio. Even now with all the valuable resources provided, the newspaper is still very essential to everyday living.

Most anyone can find something they need in each section of the news paper. Rather it be information, a classified ad, or perhaps, it's entertainment one may be seeking.

As far as news papers may range they were set to be a basis for information. Which is why articles are written to be informative on a vast range of subjects, such as how the President is doing his job, or in related news, what may be going on with the War on terrorism. It also offers local news. Take in example, The Peoria Journal Star had a write up earlier this week, on a former Normal, Illinois teacher, being sentenced to twelve years in prison for committing sexual acts upon his students (www.pjstar.com).

There always seems to be something a person need, with little money to spend on this particular thing. Times like these is when you turn to the classified ads in your local news paper. A wide variety of items are listed in the classified ads, such as, cars, animals, electronics, or possibly a new career. Granted, a classified ad may or may not be a last resort, but according to Wikipedia, the net worth of the market for classified ads, was at an estimation of over $ 100 billion (www.wikipedia.com). Meaning, you aren't the only one out there who grabs a penny saver and searches desperately to find something they need, at a small price, and much less redtape than buying from a retailer.

Everyone has those days, where they're doing nothing more, than sitting around the house twiddling their thumbs. Here, is where the newspaper may come into play once again. Yes, the news paper is informative, but also entertaining, as well. If one were to flip through, somewhere near the back are many tidbits targeted at a persons entertainment. Such as, crossword puzzles, comics, maybe even a recipe or two. Or perhaps, someone is into to sports. That may also keep them entertained for a period of time.

Despite all these things, the news paper has come a very long way. It's been around since way back in the horse and buggy days. Although folks can get the things they desire from the T.V., and internet, the newspaper is still a major resource. In accordance with State of The News Media, more than half (54%) of The United States read the news paper sometime during a 7 day period (stateofthenewsmedia.org). Meaning, yes, even though the news paper may not be as popular as some of our other resources offered, it's still very useful for most, if not all, the information you may be seeking.
